I'm glad to see things coming together, and the real professional quality of everything. I have to be honest -- though I've been a long time (like, forever) follower of the project, I've also been a long-time owner of a PetSafe Small Dog Remote Trainer and have made mental notes tallying the presumed advantages of the DL2000 that would make it worthwhile over such an inexpensive alternative. One that has been bothering me recently is erratic behavior of the PetSafe unit. Often, it will just go into some sort of undocumented "I'm not working mode." I displays a solid red LED light on the receiver and you have to turn the receiver off and on. That's awkward to do when you're fully dressed and, and your woman is upset that she cannot administer correction.
The solid RED LED indicator? Not one of the documented modes. :(
Could it be that the receiver battery is low? Maybe. Don't think so though. I've had it get flaky when the remote transmitter rechargeable battery was low. Again, no "low battery indicator" just wacky behavior.
I trust DL Labs to do a better job (and correct things like this as you go along). So right there could be a huge but hidden advantage of the DL2000.

And also the firmware has been tested to death, and the microcontrollers have watchdog timers so they can't crash.
