Maps. Live location tracking would be cool but would require a constant data connection which would make battery life tough.
Maybe the USB syncs back stored location data later and puts it on a map.
Two possible use cases here:
1. Define where wearer is allowed to go; deliver punishment if line is crossed.
2. Instruct user to follow a specific path; punishment if he doesnt follow.
Not sure if this is it, but it'd be good either way. A USB connected key box, with real security. This would allow a remote Mistress to watch her slave via video to fit a chastity, and to watch the keys go into the lock box, and the Mistress to control release.
Such a device could be used for other male management in general, but it would be a cool complementary device!
I tend to doubt that it's anything like a remote control lock/unlock mechanism (for either a cb or key safe). Such a mechanism could be achieved with a solenoid and wouldn't benefit from the complexities have engineering with gears.
Those gears and attached motor are likely for rotating an axle to a variety of different positions.
If this new product follows the same idea of the dl2k in that it's used to deliver corrective action, I'd see it as something like a ball squeezer. Something where you could dial in how much correction is needed and it'll retract a cord or something to constrict a sack around his sack.
While something like that would be really neat, there are several issues that make me believe it's not something like this. Rather than a usb connector, they'd just have it connect up with an existing dl2k, this would be potentially too heavy to be worn all day long (would eliminate more of the casual/real-world user/customer base), and finally, it could have some serious health/liability issues in the event that something goes wrong.
The usb connector makes me think it's something that would sit next to (or near) your computer. And frankly, I'm somewhat baffled as to what it is. But right now, if I had to make a shot in the dark, I'd guess it's something that would work as some sort of tongue exerciser that could be used in conjunction with what's written at http://www.dreamloverlabs.com/tonguelengthening.php. The motors and gears are there to provide resistance and the usb is there to talk back to the computer to keep track of progress and/or talk to dl2k to provide 'encouragement' to do better. Although, I don't know what this would really have to do with Area 51 and/or Norad/Cheyenne Mountain.
Is my guess that this is not worn/carried correct?
Going back to the gears, can we have an idea os scale please? The shafts could be little 6mm ones or anything from 3mm up to about 12mm. The two identical devices are laying side by side, they could be connected but do not appear to be so this could just be a red herring. If these were high torque generators I would have expected there to be a woodruff key on the shaft rather than a simple flat. Could it be that it is not a motor but that we have to turn the shaft many many times to achieve some reward? Maybe its a treadmill to keep us fit. Think caged hamsters in their wheel.
Could still be a remote locking device for something. If the scale is large it could close a door, if its small for a collar, if its medium size, then maybe like someone said, a remote safe. Of course it need not be remote but merely a time lock. Hopefully there will be an emergency release too in case of fire etc.
Maybe instead of zapping our privates its to tweak our nipples or pull on our ears or push a spike into the bottom of our heel or sole. I think constricting breathing would be rather dangerous but constricting swallowing might be more acceptable provided saliva could be swallowed.
As for Cheyenne mountain, are you referring to the nuclear option in some way, retaliation on such a scale that it acts as a deterrent, in this case to disobedience? Wasn't area 53 where they actually tested the successor to the U2 spy plane so maybe some sort of surveillance system. Could the motors be for pan and tilt of a camera maybe?
Since first seeing the concept of the DL2K I'd always wondered if you might create an insertable (butt plug) version. The shock distance and skin type is similarly thin/soft tissue. The challenge comes with regards to locking it (as one can do with a CB) into place. I noticed Meo.de has a rather sinister looking device that actually will expand once in and then can be locked in place. The receiver, probes, vibrator, could all fit into one nice package that wouldn't require any fitting at all. The one thought I had is how a mechanical locking device might not be very safe for this type of function.
