You can tune the leash from 3-4cm to 100 meters (with no walls) with trial and error.
So it is likely it will be possible to get a long enough leash to allow out in the garden of a average size house taking the walls into account with the house size leash but be able to also be kept within 1m or even less of the pc.
Likely but depends on walls. If you have solid concrete walls you will experience severe attenuation of signal. If you have thin wooden walls like in most american houses the signal will go right through easily. The body is like a brick wall in this respect, if the wearer faces away the signal is reduced by a lot, so it requires experimentation. That's why we've decided not to allow random numbers to be entered remotely... gotta test it first.
