Second and final test passed!!!

2010-11-16 01:04:51 (6222 views)

They shorted critical points on purpose, connected the remote to the PC to charge on a shorted battery and did all sorts of crazy things. They collected 42 hours of test data, spent days torturing the units, managed to break a remote and mess up 3 sets of batteries but nothing happened! The product is officially THROUGH all compliance testing, both electromagnetic and electrical safety. We will have the report in approximately one week.

This is great news, although I can't say I'm surprised that a device like this didn't fail any big "will it set your house on fire?" or "will it cause airplanes to crash" type tests. I _AM_ surprised that there were no real failures with the batteries. Between the stuff we've heard about Li batteries exploding and some of the problems you've had with vendors over there, that was the only spot I expected any real failures that required sourcing new parts.

Glad to hear that you're over this hurdle. So what's left to do? Box and packaging, final assembly, and sort out distribution?
