Past two days (we're not just playing with colors):

- Bank account finally operable.

- Card processing moving forward.

- UK lab says no need to test indicator LEDs to laser safety standards

- Plastic and rubber pretty much sorted out

- Final verdict from the lab after the engineer did the TWO tests he had forgotten: we pass. FCC report coming soon

- Next: reconnect with the PCB assembly people. Produce final PCBs (white, gold plated). Try automatic assembly.

What is your beat estimate on how long it may take to get the product to us provided everyone u have lined up is still ready to do business? Of course this could change if u have to arrange new venders I understand. Hopefully that won't happen of course.

Albrtcmp: all we can do is tell you what still needs to be done, estimate completion time for each sub-task and then inform you of delays and milestones for each. We've done this and we'll keep doing it. As far as giving a time frame for the completed project this has proven elusive but we're really, really just about there...

Albrtcmp & Dkcbx: one of the problems for us (and for our users) is going to be that even when we start selling it will take time to scale up. It's not just our issue, much bigger organizations (such as the guys who're selling us the cutting edge components we're using) are in the same position with cashflow issues, their own component lead times, people waiting in line and so forth.

So there almost certainly won't be a time when all of the thousands of people who're following will be able to click and order on the same day. Rather (to use completely fictional numbers) we may start sending out 10 units, followed by 50, 150, 300, 500 and so forth as we get cashflow and straighten up component supply. Very important points will be cashflow, component lead times, import/custom procedures and delays... this is why it's not straightforward to say "you will get it on this date for price X"... we're trying to figure out the smartest way to roll out in order to scale up fast enough to fulfill demand... this is what everything revolves around.

White PCBs?? That sounds much worse-looking than the green samples! I understood that you were going to have them made in black, following the feedback from future users in the “clear-or-not?” debate, and to match the black and purple labels.

Similarly, I’m trusting that “gold-plated” refers to ensuring good conductivity and that most of it will be hidden by the silver-coloured solder.

Black and silver = sexy. White and gold = not sexy in this context (in my opinion anyway)

Black or white should both look extremely good. White is very sexy, check the pictures on our blog.

The look of the pcbs inside the clear enclosure actually depends mostly on the surface polish of the enclosure, that's why the mold is currently being repolished with 1-15 micron powder from crushed industrial diamonds.

We can try black/white easily by spray painting pcbs. We'll try both before committing how about that.

Gold is hidden by solder except in very few places (very tiny vias and the ring terminal pads).

Thanks for the “gold” confirmation and the reassurance that the black v white PCB decision awaits a further assessment. I’m puzzled about how the clear enclosure can have that much effect on the appearance of such distinctly different colours but am very happy to reserve judgement till images are available. Congratulations on all your efforts to produce this device.
