2010-08-01 10:14:36 (6229 views) Friends, stage 1 polishing has been completed, which makes the plastic mold 85% complete.
Polycarbonate dyes will also arrive tomorrow, so tomorrow is Factory Day! The temperature here is 36-37C and the factory has no air conditioning (it's being renovated). We will see our mold in action for the first time... and if we survive the heat, expect videos and plenty of pictures within 24 hours, documenting:
- the first DL2000 molded enclosure samples EVER
- different colors and intensities to compare
- BRASS INSERTS which will be overmolded to allow you to open and close the receiver an unlimited number of times (they prevent damage to the walls of the screw holes)
Because the mold will have to undergo another round of polishing, the plastic samples we'll get tomorrow might NOT be as clear as glass - no idea what to expect honestly.
This texture may be interesting to take a look at anyway because it will slightly diffuse the LED lights and may yield interesting effects. The DL2K-LINK and the remote should benefit from a slight texturing and we doubt we'll end up re-polishing these cavities. We'll see.
The dimensions will be VERY precise and consistent across parts (down to 1/100th of a millimeter or so).
With the first plastic samples, the very final stages of our project will finally be unlocked!
- we will be able to take the boards we assembled this past week to the EMC lab
- we will send plastic parts to the overlay makers so they can ensure the overlays for the remote and DL2K-LINK are the right size (there is some ambiguity with clearance along the edges... this way we don't risk delays)
We are also pleased to inform you that the previously created Arousal Inducers (10 working out of 11) have been underwater for 2 days and they still work - so after MANY mold changes and LONG tweaking this is now pretty much a success! The mold shape and pressure and preprocessing are now so good that the motors aren't squeezed even by a fraction of a millimeter; consequently the motors are a lot more silent than in our first trials.
The final victory flag on the Inducers will be raised when we can assemble a few units and bombard them with heavy water jets as usual; for now the parts aren't attached to a device so the best we can do is immerse them.
Another positive development: we've found a reasonable price for the body bands and it seems we'll be able to get those produced with our logo and a few eyelets even at small quantities. The idea here is to let you use those same white plastic locks usually used in conjunction with CBx000 chastity devices, to secure the band in any position/style you wish.
Lastly the bank has been quiet for the past few days and they're not requesting any more odd documentation so we hope to have a bank account set up by the middle of the coming week.
