2010-03-22 23:18:33 (3643 views) She hasn't taken charge of our business yet thankfully but she did send some nice 0805 size pink LEDs:
These SMD ones are just as bright as the big ones. One reason why we decided to get rid of the through hole ones is that they were supposed to go through the remote's enclosure, making it difficult to open since everything is put together with millimetric precision. We'll now go ahead and close those LED holes on the remote's enclosure.
As you can see the battery connector is problematic at this point. We need to get the battery manufacturer to create these packs with very short wires and the usual molex connector. The board side molex connector is problematic because the metal contacts come out when you pull the battery! We'll switch to the horizontal version of this connector though the assembly people will have to be careful to cut the leads which will protrude from under the board (same as the LEDs used to do, another reason to get rid of them).
The good news here is that everything fits! The battery is the perfect size for our purposes. This will turn out very well... stay tuned.
